Currently serving as the governor of the province of Negros Oriental is Roel Degamo, a politician from the Philippines born on April 29th, 1966. He was born in Bonawon, a town in the Negros Oriental’s Siaton Municipality. He graduated from Dumaguete City’s St. Louis School – Don Bosco with a high school diploma. He then continued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Silliman University in 1989. The previous year, he took license exams and passed them.
Political Career
Degamo’s involvement in politics began when he ran for and was elected to the Municipality of Siaton Council, a position he held from 1998 until 2007 for a total of three consecutive terms. He served as the president of the Provincial Councilors League (PCL) of Negros Oriental between 2004 and 2007. He qualified for a place on the Provincial Board, the body that makes laws for the Province Government, because of his position. Also, he was given the chance to sit on the National Board of the Philippine Councilor’s League after being selected to lead Region VII.
At the local elections held in 2010, he ran for and won a seat on the Provincial Board with the most votes. He is now the lawmaker for the province’s third parliamentary district. The position of Vice-Governor-elect Agustin Perdices was upgraded to that of Governor, and Degamo was promoted to Vice-Governor as a result of the premature death of freshly elected Governor Emilio Macias II before he could take the oath of office. Degamo was once more forced to move up in the province’s political structure and assume the position of Governor as a result of the demise of Governor Agustin Perdices.

Governor Roel Degamo of Negros Oriental was allegedly assaulted by armed individuals on Saturday morning, March 4, just outside Barangay 9 in the town of Pamplona, according to the PNP’s Negros Oriental headquarters.
His wife, Pamplona, Negros Oriental Mayor Janice Degamo, said in a video message that was posted on the governor of Negros Oriental’s Facebook page that her husband was pronounced dead at 11:41 a.m.
