A. Santhi Kumari is a senior IAS officer and has been appointed as Telangana’s new chief secretary, after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao agreed that she should be the State’s top bureaucrat, the State Government instructed her to take the position of Chief Secretary. This very instruction was given just a day after Somesh Kumar was dismissed from his job by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
The first female Chief Secretary of Telangana will be Santhi Kumari. After receiving the appointment instructions, Santhi Kumari went to Pragathi Bhavan to meet with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who expressed his joy over her appointment.
Ms. Shanti Kumari will be the first woman to serve as the new State’s governor since 1989. She’s got a master’s degree in marine biology. She completed her MBA in the US before spending two years working for the UN. She has dedicated her 30 years of service to significantly reducing poverty, enhancing health and education, educating the populace, and protecting forests.
She held the positions of chief secretary in the Chief Minister’s office and special secretary for the TS-iPASS. She serves as the Forest department’s special chief secretary before being appointed chief secretary. The newly appointed Chief Secretary visited Pragati Bhavan to express her gratitude to the Chief Minister for appointing her as Chief Secretary and placing his confidence in her.
Santhi Kumari holds an MBA from the United States in addition to a master’s degree in marine biology. She retained a variety of jobs in the region that was formerly Andhra Pradesh and is now Telangana. She formerly served as the department of Environment and Forests’ Special Chief Secretary.
Somesh Kumar, a native of Bihar, joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1989. He was given control over the AP cadre when he was hired (IAS). The Center, however, took care of the division of officers as well after the two states split apart.
A few “All India Services” officers approached the CAT and requested permission to remain in Telangana.
K. Chandrashekar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana, selected Kumar to be the chief secretary because he had served the government for a significant amount of time before he was eligible for retirement. This was done in order to maintain the government’s efficiency for a minimum of three years.
