Mr. Somesh Kumar was born on December 22, 1963, He is a graduate of psychology from the University of Delhi with a master’s degree. He made his mark on the government by working in well-known agencies like the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Tribal Welfare, Revenue-Commercial Taxes and Excise Collegiate Education, and AP Urban Services for Poor.
He supervises the smooth implementation of GST as the Principal Secretary for Revenue, Commercial Taxes, and Excise. To close gaps and stop tax evasion, he also used IT, apps, and data analytics. Additionally, he took a number of measures to stop the loss of excise tax revenue and developed a reputation as a strict taskmaster. Currently, he is also in charge of the CCLA, Registration, and land issues.
